This strike exploits a vulnerability in the Microsoft Edge browser. Specifically, the vulnerability exists in jscript.dll. Javascript can be crafted in such a way that allows for a Use-After-Free to occur in the JsErrorToString function, which can cause a heap buffer overflow. This may lead to a denial of service condition in the browser, or potentially remote code execution. When the replace function is called it fails to check if a user function is called and type confusion can occur.. This rule supports to defend the A6: Vulnerable and Outdated Components of OWASP Top 10 - 2021.
