Descripiton

A code execution vulnerability has been reported in Windows Media Center. The vulnerability is due to an issue with processing Media Center Link files. A remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability by enticing a user into opening a specially crafted '.mcl' file. Successful exploitation could lead to the execution of arbitrary code under the security context of the currently logged on user. This rule supports to defend the A6: Vulnerable and Outdated Components of OWASP Top 10 - 2021.
